London Fields CC v Grace's CC, 30 May 2004

Grace's had lost four games so far in the season and were in need of some better form. Shofiq began the day losing a gold ring on the London Fields ground, so the whole team got on their hands and knees in search of the ring. Nice one! We found it! Things could only get better, they did... Shofiq won the toss and put London Fields into bat.

Shofiq, Dekock and new boy Rose bowled 12 overs for only 26 runs. The ball certainly jumped around and the pitch was lively and unpredictable! London Fields got to 58 runs before losing their first wicket, then they lost 7 wickets for 22 more runs. Mendis took 4 wickets, Rishafi 1 wicket - and there were two run outs! The eighth-wicket pair put on 92 runs, taking advantage of Grace's occasional bowlers and ending with 172-8.

In reply, Grace's had a 75-run opening partnership between Rishafi (47) and Camberwell (47), with Rishafi playing some powerful attacking shots. Camberwell spent valuable time at the crease and played some sensible strokes, then requested a heavier bat to play some lusty pulls and leg glances for four. Bielby replaced Rishafi and hit a quick 22. Shofiq came to the crease, and despite being Sledged by a drunk West Indian from the boundary for being fat, and being encouraged to hit every ball for six, scored a sensible 31 before being caught with the score on 166. Mendis and Hardisty saw Grace's home to win by 6 wickets.
